Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired
The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired’s mission is to empower individuals with blindness and visually impaired to lead safe, dignified, independent and rewarding lives, and to prevent vision loss in adults in the Tri-County area and children in Charleston County Title 1 schools.
East Cooper Meals on Wheels delivers daily nutrition to residents within our service area who are homebound or unable to provide their own meals. We also advocate on behalf of recipients whose needs exceed the scope of our programs.
Begin With Books is a pre-school reading program for Charleston County, based on Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Over 2,250 children are currently enrolled in and receiving one brand-new book by mail each month.
Courageous Kidz, Inc. is a non-medical organization that focuses on families devastated by childhood cancer. The child has the disease, the family has the cancer. The challenges that present themselves to these families is never-ending with long-term side effects, financial havoc, insurance conflicts, marriage conflicts; the list is endless. The goal of Courageous Kidz, Inc. is to pick up the pieces, when life goes awry, restore normalcy and give the Magic of Hope!
The Center for Women is a non-profit organization that serves to help educate and advocate so that women in South Carolina have economic success and are leaders in their professional, community and personal lives. Through its mix of educational and networking opportunities, training and development workshops, mentoring, programs, services and special events, the C4W facilitates South Carolina women in building better lives for themselves, their families, organizations, employers, and communities.
Through targeted and sustainable youth mentoring programs, Be a Mentor strives to enable youth to develop positive relationships with caring adults, build long-lasting community connections and enhance the development of character and leadership skills in order to lay the foundation for success and empower youth to reach their full potential.
The mission of the American Lung Association is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
Share Our Suzy honors the spirit of Suzy McGrane who was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late twenties, while uninsured. SOS helps South Carolina breast cancer patients and their families by raising money to provide assistance to ease their journey from diagnosis to remission. The local organization offers support for transportation costs, childcare, utility bills, prosthetic bras and other things that insurance doesn’t cover.
My Sister’s House, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that provides services, programs and resources to empower domestic violence victims and their children to live free from abuse. The organization operates an emergency temporary shelter at an undisclosed location for up to 36 women and children who flee abusive situations in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties in SC.
